Julie graduated with a First Class Honours degree from Salford in 1997. She began a private practice in 1999, Acorn House Podiatry Clinic, operating from Davenport, Stockport. Here, biomechanics with gait analysis is on offer, bespoke orthoses can be prescribed if necessary. There are other treatments available including: vascular and neurological assessment; nail surgery; verruca needling; diabetes/rheumatology assessment and care; diagnosis and treatment of nail pathology; wound care and routine chiropody. In 2003 she graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a Master of Science Degree in Sports Injury and Therapy. After this she continued with Masters level learning including Extended Skills Proficiencies and Trauma and Orthopaedic Lower Limb evaluation. During her time she has forged many links with other healthcare professionals within the North West. She has been invited to give presentations about biomechanics, the high risk foot and how podiatrists can impact on peoples’ lives. She has also been invited to give updates to other professional groups such as Physiotherapists, Nurses, and GP practices. Julie worked within the podiatry department until 2004 when she was seconded to Stockport PCT’s Orthopaedic Assessment Service as a clinical biomechanical specialist in the assessment and management of foot and ankle pathology, triaging patients for potential surgical intervention. Earlier this year Julie left the NHS to work solely as a private practitioner from her practice in Davenport. All aspects of podiatry are covered and some out of hours appointments are available upon request.
